An attempted burglary in Douglas County led to three arrests Wednesday morning. Douglas County Sheriff’s office Deputies were dispatched just after 7:00 yesterday morning to a report of a stolen vehicle on property near East 100 Road and U. S. Highway 56 in Southwestern Douglas County.
While speaking with the resident on the property, deputies observed a man run from an outbuilding and another man drive one of the victim’s vehicles out of another outbuilding. The suspect, who was on foot, dove through a window of the fleeing vehicle, which deputies pursued into a nearby field.
The suspects vehicle became stuck in the field and deputies took two male suspects, identified as 22 year old Jonathan Stewart of Carbondale and 22 year old Eli McCormick of Overbrook, into custody. They were charged with aggravated burglary and criminal damage to property.
As deputies were processing the crime scene, they discovered a third suspect, a 40 year old Topeka man, hiding in an outbuilding on the property and he was taken into custody.
