Remember the big house fire in Paola that we told you about on Friday? Phil Frame, who lived there with his girlfriend and her 10 year old son, arrived home Thursday evening and as soon as he opened the door, he saw the kitchen was filled with smoke. By that time, a neighbor had already called 911. He didn’t realize the entire back side of the house was on fire. When fire crews arrived, the house was fully engulfed, which prompted Fire chief Andy Martin to say he had only seen three other fires like it in his time in Paola.

While they were able to escape the fire unhurt, the family lost everything. Though the cause of the fire is still undetermined, Frame thinks it’s related to the fire place in the living room. They were using it to supplement electric heat.

The family has received help from the American Red Cross who set them up at a local hotel and the Miami County COPS for TOTS Program, gave a $200 Walmart gift card. There is a Go-Fund-Me page for the family and donations are being taken at most banks in Paola, as well as Price Chopper. If you would like to help, KOFO will accept donations also and make sure they get to the family.
