Douglas County Sheriff Deputies are working to identify human remains found Monday afternoon south east of Lawrence. Two residents walking late Monday afternoon in the 1700 block of 1250 Road noticed the remains near a creek and alerted the Sheriff’s office.
Responding deputies and detectives confirmed the remains were human and they searched the area and located additional bones near the water. Deputies, as part of the investigation, are working to identify the remains and a forensic anthropologist is assisting in the investigation. No further details were available due to the on going investigation.
