The Garnett City Commission will meet tonight and the meeting will begin with a Public Hearing concerning the flood plain. All cities must upgrade their Flood Plain Maps. The Federal Government is updating their information on local Flood Plains and if the city failed to meet the Federal deadline for updating Flood Plain Maps, it could lose the right to have Flood Insurance or Federal Disaster Assistance under certain conditions.

Other items o the Agenda tonight include, consideration of two different Ordinances. The first known as 42-28, changes the Zoning Classification of certain land located in Garnett. The Planning Commission has recommended that an area be reclassified from Flexible Residential, to General Business. The other, 42-29, is an ordinance adopting rules and procedures to regulate and manage growth and development in certain Flood Plain Zones.

From there, the Commission will consider several applications to the Airport Advisory Board, Garnett BPW and the Anderson County Corn Festival. Finally a discussion about the North Lake Culvert and the Cedar Valley Reservoir. The Commission Meeting will be held tonight at 6:00 at Garnett City Hall. The public is welcome to attend. It will also be live streamed on the City of Garnett Facebook page.
