A Bill in the Kansas Legislature that would allow students to transfer and attend any school in the state at any time during the school year, is drawing concern from many educators across the state. Open enrollment is being practiced in some states, but many Kansas school districts think it won’t fit here. USD 290 Superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs:

Two of the highest performing districts in the State, Olathe and Blue Valley, point out that local taxpayers would be paying for non-resident students, plus it may overwhelm their systems and they couldn’t be guaranteed the financial resources needed to give everyone an education.
