It’s not everyday we get to report on one of our own! Yesterday the Ottawa City Commission recognized KOFO’s Gary Bateman for his service to the community over the past four decades. Commissioner Sara Caylor read the Proclamation:
Gary has received many accolades over his career. Perhaps the most prestigious is the Hod Humiston Award from the Kansas Association of Broadcasters, joining such legendary sportscasters as Max Fleckenstein, Tom Hedrick, Bob Davis, Wyatt Thompson and Mitch Holthus , in receiving the Honor.
Gary’s last regular season home broadcast at Ottawa High is tonight and his last road game will be Friday night in Spring Hill. Thank you Gary!
