Things are looking good when it comes to COVID numbers in Miami County. Cases continue to shrink. At the County Commission Meeting Wednesday, Emergency Management Coordinator, Mark Whelan, told Commissioners the County added 64 new cases in the past week, down 13 from the week before. Whelan reported the County has about 75 active cases, down from 100 active cases the previous week. The County’s positivity test rate of 13.58% dropped about 1.5% from the previous two week reporting period. Whelan says the County has three new hospitalizations, but no new intensive care unit admission and no new deaths. The county’s total death count remains at 86.
Schools are reporting fewer and fewer cases also. He does say that personal protection equipment is still being distributed, with over 500,000 item picked up out of the warehouse. The month of February has seen 277 new COVID cases across Miami County, down dramatically from December that saw 800 and January when cases spiked to 1,900.
