A great story of cooperation and teamwork from two rival wrestling teams. After the tourney, the teams stopped to get food at Subway. With several schools stopping to eat there, the line was out the door. One of the workers suffered a seizure. While the other employee called 911 and tried to continue to make sandwiches, Prairie View Assistant Wrestling Coach, Joe Cullor and Head Wrestling Coach, Walter Vanderventer and several athletes, stepped in to help. Many helped the employee with the seizure, getting him into a comfortable position. Some athletes went to a nearby truck stop and got pillows while they waited for an ambulance to arrive. With the line still out the door, Coach Cullor stepped in, having worked at Subway in high school, he then received help from Osawatomie wrestler, Hagan Page, who works at the Paola Subway. Together they assisted the employee making sandwiches and made sure everyone had their food. Page, by the way, was recently named the “Employee of the Month”. When asked about the incident, Coach Cullor said “that’s what our wrestling community does… we step in when someone needs help”.
