The City of Osawatomie has an issue that every single resident can help with. Their pump stations and wastewater treatment facilities are having issues with wipes and other material, clogging the equipment.

They are asking people to help the city out by not flushing cloth or other non-paper material, down the toilet. They say other paper products, like facial tissue, Kleenex, paper towels, baby wipes and especially “flushable wipes” should not be flushed. They aren’t as flushable as they claim to be. Cloth of any kind, like t-shirts, rags and socks, should never be flushed. Ever! When these things are flushed, it could lead to costly problems with your plumbing and cause backups and could lead to large scale problems in the city’s wastewater infrastructure.

So, a simple rule to remember in the bathroom: Remember flushing is only for the three “P’s”… pee, poop and toilet paper.
