An Ottawa man and an Iola woman died in a traffic accident in Allen County. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, yesterday morning about 6:30, 62 year old Gordon Lane, of Ottawa, was southbound on Highway 169 about a mile east of Humbolt and drifted left of center and collided head on with a vehicle driven by 45 year old Jamie Lunn Ellis of Iola. Both Lane and Ellis were pronounced dead on the scene.
Two passengers in Ellis’s vehicle received serious injuries in the crash. Forty two year old David Glaze of Carbondale was taken to Overland Park Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries and a six year old girl from Iola was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital. All four were properly restrained, according to the Highway Patrol
