If you are a working family with young children in Anderson County, you know how hard it is to find childcare. The Anderson County Development Agency has been focusing on child care in Anderson County for quite some time. Just a few weeks ago there were no openings for childcare anywhere in the county, by a licensed provider. According to Anderson County Development Agency Director, Julie Turnipseed, families are in crisis when it comes to childcare needs, not only in Anderson County, but surrounding counties as well. She says the Development Agency is handling the situation in two ways. First by working with childcare providers and getting their help and guidance. They are also working with other childcare professionals and have created the Anderson County Childcare Taskforce; which has been instrumental in providing the research of bringing a childcare facility to Anderson County.
Also, Anderson County representatives are meeting with a five county committee to come up with a workable solution to childcare issues in the area. A meeting is scheduled for April 11th.
