The State of Kansas is transitioning out of Pandemic Emergency Mode and into what the Kansas Department of Health ad Environment call Endemic Normalcy. As of todya the KDHE will make changes to continue to transition from Emergency Response to our ‘New Normal’, which includes life with COVID 19—similar to how we deal with other recurring diseases like the flu. Using the lessons learned over the past two years, KDHE will continue to ensure the State is prepared for potential surges or other needs that might arise i the future. Governor Laura Kelly says they know the pandemic is not over but we now have to tools and knowledge to prevent or reduce the spread of the virus.
The decision comes as numbers move in the right direction, with progressively fewer cases and hospitalizations. The KDHE says there are six key ways to ensure Kansans safety. Intervention, vaccination, treatment, testing, monitoring and communication.
