Being a sports fan can be stressful. Personally, we have an emotional connection we form with “our team” and second, we have nothing to do with the outcome. Dr. Greg Nawalanic, from the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center, says it’s not unlike dealing with the pandemic:
So, with KU playing in the Final Four tomorrow if you’re not a hard core sports fan, maybe you don’t understand your friends who are hard core, and their reactions to the game as it unfolds. Be understanding and sympathetic when they stomp around the room, scream curse words at the refs and throw things when things aren’t going right. But, join in with then in celebration when things are going right.
