Miami County’s Finance Director has retired. Steve Lyman retired on March 31st, after serving Miami County for nearly 22 years. He says he’s enjoyed putting together the County’s budgets. He calls it a puzzle with input from all the departments. Miami County Commission Chair, Rob Roberts, says he could always count on Lyman. He could quote budget figures for any department or any line item without having to look them up. He says you could ask Lyman any budget related question and he would have the answer. He is sure Lyman left the County’s financial affairs in good order.

Lyman says he’s always had a knack for numbers. It’s been fun putting it all together and making sure they all abide by all the statutes that regulate the County. He started with the County in July of 2000 as a Accounts Payable Clerk and worked his way up the ladder to Finance Director in 2019. Lyman plans to travel a lot with his wife in retirement.
