The Ottawa Planning Commission is going all out to accommodate the development of the Econo-Lodge Hotel at 2331 South Cedar Street, to be renovated into a multi-family housing unit The area does need to be rezoned from Commercial to Mixed Use Commercial-Residential. City Planner, Jennifer Reinhardt says her staff findings support the change:
At issue right now is a requirement that the lot size be three acres, which it is not. The Planning Commission is working on a text amendment to the Regulation to allow for mixed use sites to be less than the three acre requirement; however, the extra detail is likely to cause a delay in approval of the project by several weeks.
