The Miami County Commission has recommended a Revenue Neutral Budget for the upcoming year, as the Annual Budget Season is coming up for taxing entities. A neutral budget would hold property taxes where they are this year. Commissioner Phil Dixon called for an informal discussion recently. He says one of his goals is to keep Miami County residents from paying one dollar more in County Property Taxes than they did in 2022. He does admit it is a risk, as costs for everything are going up.

County Administrator, Shane Krull, wanted Commissioners to know there will be some significant things they would be giving up going Revenue Neutral. They would have to prioritize what they want to do and used the analogy… if you are praying for rain, you have to be prepared to deal with the mud.

Commissioners talked about other areas where money could be saved, like not filling all open positions and reallocating those dollars into other thing. The median value of residential properties in Miami County increased 13.85% from 2021 to 2022.
