Today is Earth Day. Since 1970, millions of people World Wide, have gathered to push for environmental changes to protect the earth. The first Earth Day, in 1970, led to the passage of landmark environmental laws in the United States, including the Clean Air Act, the Endangered Species Act, establishment of the Environmental Protection Agency and in 2016, the U. S. chose Earth Day as the day to sign the Paris Climate Agreement into force.

Since its inception, hundreds of millions of trees have been planted, education programs have expanded to 149 countries educating students on the most critical issues facing the planet. Also launched in 2012, the “A Billion Acts of Green” program, supporting and highlighting the many ways people contribute to improving the environment, with over three billion to date.

The first Earth Day is credited with launching the modern environmental movement. Earth Day is now recognized as the planet’s largest Civic Event each year. The Earth Day 2022 theme is “Invest in our Planet. What will you do?”
