A 59 year old Topeka man is dead after an incident on Sand Creek Road yesterday afternoon. Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 2700 block of Sand Creed Road yesterday, in reference to a disturbance in the roadway. Callers indicated a male subject was outside of a vehicle, assaulting a female who was sitting inside a vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies observed an injured male subject laying on the roadway. Deputies and first responders provided first aid, to include CPR, on the subject. Franklin County EMS transported the male to Advent Health Ottawa where he was later pronounced dead.
The dead is identified as Mr. Manuel Lara. The vehicle and female subject were not present when deputies arrived on the scene, the vehicle was located and the female driver was detained by Ottawa Police officers as the vehicle entered the city limits on North Main Street.
This incident is stull under investigation.
