Wellsville native, Mark Samsel has announced he has filed for reelection to represent the Kansas House of Representatives in the 5th District. The newly drawn District includes portions of Douglas, Miami, Franklin and Johnson Counties, including Baldwin City, Edgerton and Wellsville and parts of Osawatomie, Gardner and Spring Hill. Samsel says he will miss the people of Anderson and Linn Counties that used to be in the 5th District, but while the District lines may have changed, people can expect the same thoughtful and compassionate approach he has taken to the issues in the past.
Samsel was first elected to the Seat in 2018. He serves as a member of the Judiciary Committee, Education Committee, Energy Utilities and Telecommunications Committee, Financial Institutions and Rural Development Committee and Joint Special Claims Against the State Committee.
He remains enthusiastic to continue making progress on mental health statewide, improving broadband and transportation infrastructure, lowering taxes for Kansans, and implementing sound fiscal policy and governing.
