This week the Kansas Department of Transportation, or K-DOT, expects to start a field survey on K-33 in Franklin and Douglas Counties. The survey will begin at 6th Street in Wellsville and continue north to the K-33/U. S. 56 junction. The 3 1/2 mile long survey is based on the existing highway alignment. Survey crew members will gather information for the detailed design of future K-33 improvements. K-DOT expects the survey to be complete by July 15th.
During this time, activities include the use of survey instruments on the ground to determine locations of existing features within the corridor. A member of the survey crew will contact property owners or tenants for permission to enter private property. K-DOT Field Survey Project Manager, Joe Bowen, will manage the survey.
If you have any questions, contact K-DOT and they can answer them for you.
