The fate of the Juvenile Detention Center in Franklin County hangs in the balance and from all appearances, it hangs by a thread. The County Commission spent around two and a half hours during its regular meeting, listening to presentations on the advantages and disadvantages of closing the center, which has seen a dwindling number of juvenile offenders.
Franklin County Attorney Brandon Hones, says one problem is that recent reforms of juvenile justice laws make it very unlikely that most juveniles will be kept at the detention center:
