The Franklin County Commission voted to close the Juvenile Detention Center this morning, Friday, May 27th; but, it will have very little impact on the Day School that Ottawa School District provides to some juveniles at the facility.
During the Commission Meeting, Wednesday, May 18th, Commissioners listened to reasons why the center should or should not be closed, because of its dwindling use. At on point, County Administrator, Derek Brown, had a question for Ottawa School Superintendent, Dr. Ryan Cobbs:
The County Commission voted to close the facility on a 5-0 vote.
