Maybe the problem with the juvenile justice system is they get off too easy. That seems to be the message of Franklin County Attorney Brandon Jones. Jones was before the County Commission, which is considering closing the Juvenile Detention Center in Ottawa. Jones told Commissioners that teenage offenders get the wrong message… that there are no consequences for criminal behavior:
The Juvenile Detention Center has seen less and less use, leading to the idea that maybe it should be closed. County officials emphasize though, that even if the Detention parts of the center is closed, the building will still be used to continue various services for juvenile offenders.
