The Kansas Highway Patrol has released their report for the Memorial Day Weekend Holiday 2022 period. For the third year in a row, drunk driving arrests have fallen… 17 this year compared to 20 last year. Speeding citations and warnings and adult seat belt citations were up dramatically from last year.. nearly 25%, while seat belt citations and warnings for teens went down, but child restraint citations were up nearly 30% from last year. This year, the Memorial Day Weekend coincided with the “Click It or Ticket” program, where officers were actively looking for those who were not wearing seat belts.
On a sad note, for the first time in three years, Kansas had a DUI related fatality crash over the Memorial Day Weekend.
