When a woman tried to jump out of a car on the K-68 overpass, behind the Ottawa Police Department, yesterday, June 1, 2022, it caught officers attention. Officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute in the car and tried to stop the vehicle, but it fled from them with the woman inside the vehicle. That initiated a huge police response. Police pursued the vehicle to the north side of town until the driver got out and ran near Hickory and Garfield Street, within the Cherrywoods Mobile Home Park. A large number of officers responded to the scene as those initially on the scene were able to chase the man down on foot.
They arrested Shawn Scott for domestic assault, domestic battery, domestic criminal damage to property, criminal restraint, fleeing and eluding and reckless driving. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but it unknown if they treated anybody for any injuries. Scott was taken to the Franklin County Adult Detention Center.
