A semi-truck accident on northbound I-35 about a half mile south of the 68 Highway exit, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, has put one person in the hospital. KOFO’s Milton Ammel was on scene and spoke with Kansas Highway Patrol Trooper, Aaron Shafer, who says heavy rain may have contributed to the mishap:
The Highway Patrol says a distraction in the vehicle caused it to veer to the right, strike a guardrail, roll on its side and strike the bridge pillar. According to one witness to the accident, who stopped at the scene, the driver of the truck was standing up in the cab when he got to the truck to help. He says he was thankful to see the man alive. The driver, 44 year old Michael McGraw from Pratt, was taken to Advent Health Ottawa for treatment of minor injuries. The wreck occurred about 3:00 yesterday.
