Are Anderson County Schools prepared for an event like the one in Uvalde, Texas? Crest, USD 479 Superintendent, Shane Walter says the District has undergone “ALICE” training. The District has taken other security measures, like using Safe and Secure Schools Grants to have secure access and surveillance of District facilities.

While no school is fully prepared, USD 365 Superintendent, Don Blome, says the District does a risk, fire and tornado scenarios drills. But, stopping such an incident relies on people being willing to say something when they see something concerning, especially on social media. He urges people to report it to staff and law enforcement.

Anderson County Undersheriff, Wes McClain, says local officers had conducted multi-agency training in the past, for school shooting scenarios and the Department is presently in talks with other agencies for a follow-up large-scale training event.
