A feel-good story for you this morning. Sometimes an act of kindness goes a log way. An Ottawa Police Officer helped out in a big way Tuesday morning, June 7. The danger of being hit by a car is great when you cross a street, especially if you are not able to hurry across the street. Maybe you are in a wheelchair or on crutches, or maybe just older and can’t move as fast as you once were able to, or… maybe, you are a turtle—like a real turtle.
Tuesday morning, June 7, 2022, near the corner of Second and Ash, a turtle was crossing the street. After being narrowly missed by several cars and neighbors were worried, a police officer stopped his car, picked up the turtle and made sure it was across the road and into the grass safely. Putting more danger into the mix, it was a snapping turtle.
A big thank you to that officer… we don’t know his identity, but thank you for showing compassion to all things living and providing a much longer life to the turtle and, putting a smile on our faces.
