A big event in downtown Ottawa tomorrow night, Thursday, June 9, 2022, will honor a man who spent the majority of his life serving the people of Ottawa. A book signing will be held for Ottawa resident, Richard Jackson, who wrote a book about his life story. Ottawa University Campus President, Dr. Reggies Wenyika, talks about Jackson:
His book is called “Ward Of the Court, the Richard Jackson Story”. It tells how he grew up in foster homes and left Rochester, New York, in 1964 and arrived in Ottawa, sight unseen. He went to Ottawa University and, after graduating, served at the local and state level in organizations that addressed the issues of poverty and discrimination.
The signing will be held tomorrow, Thursday, June 9, 2022, from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Corner Market. Jackson will speak at the event.
