Three people have filed to fill the vacant seat in the Kansas 59th District Representative position left open by the announcement by Blaine Finch that he would not be running for reelection. Last week, Rebecca Schmoe, Louis Reed and Darrel McCune all filed for the position.
Reed made the decision to run less than 24 hours before the June 10th deadline. The Pomona Republican says he wants to work on keeping taxes down and give back to his community.
McCune, a Democrat from Ottawa says raising his family here for the last 50 years has been a blessing and his intention is to give back to the community by representing the people of Franklin County to the best of his ability.
Schmoe, a Republican, says she is a strong supporter of Second Amendment Rights and a strong constitutionalist and wants to be a firewall between the Federal Government and the State government.
The Primary Election will be August 2nd.
