The heat continues for our area today. The National Weather Services has issued a Heat Advisory that goes into effect at noon today, June 16, 2022, for Franklin, Anderson, Osage and Douglas Counties and remains in effect until 8:00 tonight. For Miami and Linn Counties, it goes into effect at 11:00 this morning until 9:00 tonight. Temperatures in the upper 90’s combined with high humidity will lead to a heat index up to 108 today.
It is very important to drink plenty of fluids and stay in an air-conditioned room if possible. Stay out of the sun for extended periods of time and be sure to check on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in a vehicle, under any circumstance. Be sure to know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
