The Linn County firefighter that was injured in a fire Monday night, June 20, 2022, in Pleasanton, has died. Thirty five year old Joshua Haynes was rescued by fellow firefighters after being injured in the burning building. The provided aid until he could be airlifted to the KY Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. According to a statement by the ATF, he leaves behind three children.
The cause of the fire at Carpenter Chiropractic in Pleasanton is not yet known, but is being investigated by the Kansas Fire Marshal’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. There has been no evidence so far to suggest the fire was arson, but the ATF is often called to investigate incidents when a firefighter is injured or killed. Investigators will be back at the scene today and have called in an electrical engineer and a fire engineer.
Haynes began his career as a volunteer firefighter at the age of 18 and gave more that 17 years to Pleasanton and the surrounding communities as a firefighter. The family has asked for privacy during this time.
