A couple weeks ago, the Garnett Recreation Department along with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas and member from the National Fitness Campaign launched an outdoor fitness court in Garnett at the Santa Fe Depot. It’s an open-air wellness center that allows users to leverage their own body weight to get a complete workout. It was created with adults of all ages and abilities in mind. Users can download an app that transforms the gym into a digitally supported wellness ecosystem. Garnett is the second outdoor fitness court in a series of 10 that are being built in Kansas and in more than 200 cities nationwide.

At the Grand Opening, Garnett City Manager Travis Wilson, said people are worried about water and sewer lines, utilities and other things, but forget about what is truly important in the city… the people. He believes the new fitness courts will give Kansans another option to meet their health and fitness goals.
