The Ottawa Police Department is still on scene of a homicide that occurred yesterday afternoon, Sunday, June 26, 2022, shortly after 3:00. Officers of the Ottawa Police Department and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a call of a stabbing in the 700 Block of West 11th. The incident was at a residence at 11th and Ash on the northwest corner. When they arrived, they found 29 year old Dalton Presley of Ottawa, dead from an apparent stab wound. Another resident of the house was at the scene, detained and transported to the Ottawa Police Department for further investigation.
Later Sunday evening, 29 year old Anthony Alvarado from Ottawa, was arrested on the charge of second degree murder and is being held in the Franklin County Detention Center, pending formal charges by the Franklin County Attorney’s Office.
The Kansas Bureau of Investigation, along with the Ottawa Police and Franklin County Sheriff’s Office are assisting in the investigation. Police Chief Adam Weingartner says the ten=hundred block of Ash will be closed to through traffic until the investigation is complete. He asks if anyone has information related to the investigation to please call the Ottawa Police and ask to speak to a detective.
