Investigators are still on the scene of a homicide that occurred at 11th and Ash Sunday afternoon, June 23, 2022. The Ottawa Police Department, the Franklin County Sheriff’s office and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation are working together to find what led to the stabbing death of 29 year old Dalton Presley, around three Sunday afternoon. His room-mate, 29 year old Anthony Alvarado, was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder.
State Statute defines Second Degree Murder, as any type of unlawful killing that is done with malicious intent, but without premeditation. One of the defining aspects of a second degree murder charge is that there isn’t any sort of plan or premeditation on behalf of the killer.
Ottawa Police Chief, Adam Weingartner, told KOFO that no further information will be released until the investigation by all the agencies is fully complete and any formal charges are forwarded to the Franklin County Attorney.
