The man accused of murdering his roommate at their residence at 11th and Ash Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2022, was in Franklin County District Court for the first time yesterday, Tuesday, June 28. Twenty nine year old Anthony Alvarado was charged with second degree murder. Alvarado is accused of the stabbing death of 29 year old Dalton Presley, Sunday afternoon. Judge Kevin Kimball set his bond at one million dollars and assigned Attorney John Boyde as Alvarado’s defense. Before being led from the courtroom, Alvardo did ask the judge what the stipulations for self-defense were in Kansas. The judge directed him to his attorney.
As of this morning, Wednesday, June 29th, 2022, investigators are still on the scene of the crime. Ottawa Police Chief, Adam Wiengartner, says no further information will be released until the investigation by the Ottawa Police and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is fully complete and even then, information would be limited as the evidence is presented to the Franklin County Attorney’s office and Alvarado’s defense team.
