Osawatomie firefighters were called to the scene of a truck fire near the intersection of Brown Avenue and Oscar Street, around 2:30 Friday afternoon, July 1st. The fire destroyed the vehicle and caused slight damage to siding and fascia on the home where it was parked. There was also some smoke damage and charred insulation in the attic.
Some neighbors reported hearing popping noises before and during the fire and it was learned there was ammunition in the vehicle. A person in the house was evacuated through the back door and a spokesperson for the department reported there were no injuries.
The cause of the fire is not known at this time and is under investigation.
