A truck fire destroyed the vehicle that was parked in a driveway and damaged an Osawatomie home. Osawatomie Firefighters were called to the scene, near the intersection of Brown Avenue and Oscar Street. Upon arrival, the truck was fully engulfed in flames and crews went to work putting out the fire and trying to keep it from spreading to a home. Officials say at one point they were dealing with burning gas under the vehicle.

The fire did eventually affect the house, as some of the vinyl siding melted and there were small fires under the gutter, as well as smoke damage and charred insulation in the attic.

The truck was a brand new Ford F-150 with only 500 miles on it. While the cause of the fire is not known, it was extremely hot that day and neighbors reported hearing popping noises before and during the fire, as there was a good amount of ammunition in the truck.
