Last year, the City of Ottawa got serious when it comes to people mowing their yards into the street. People that continue to do it are receiving notices in the mail, warning them and encouraging them to not do it again. Public Works Director, Michael Haeffele tells us about the hazards involved:
An MS4 Permit authorizes cities, counties or other governmental entities to discharge storm water, collected by their storm sewers systems, to waters of the United States. Haeffele says if someone continues to blow grass and yard debris into the street after being warned, fines could be issued for the offense.
