The Central Heights School District’s request for a School Resource Officer is putting County Officials in somewhat of an awkward position. During a County Commission Study Session, County Administrator, Derek Brown, noted that adding staff while at the same time reducing staff is difficult:
Cost of salary and benefits of the SRO is estimated at around $72,000 and the consensus of the Commission appeared to be to ask the school district to cover all the salary and benefits while the Sheriff’s Department would cover the car and related costs. The County Commission is expected to take up the matter during their regular meeting, Wednesday.
