Anderson County residents may have noticed quite a bit of construction going on in the area of South Westgate Road before the curve heading west toward Westphalia. Anderson County purchased roughly three acres there, with plans to construct a new fire station and fire training center. Also, a 40 foot by 80 foot Incident Support building is being built.
Fire officials report that the current County Fire Station buildings are not large enough to house the size of apparatus they are operating with these days. Officials say the Incident Support Building was identified as a need during the recent pademic.
Funding for the project was acquired through a Grant through a foundation that supports rural counties in efforts to improve the quality of life and the ability to assist the sick ad injured.
