A new loan program designed to help fund the opening of new preschools in our area, has the option for the loan to be ‘Forgiven’ if certain conditions are met.
The Preschool Development Grant Program is funded by the Kansas Children’s Cabinet to increase the number of high quality infant and toddler slots offered in Ottawa. Funding can be made to people in the process of opening a licensed childcare program or to currently licensed programs who are expanding care for more children.
The loan will be forgiven if the provider offers licensed care for at least six months; however, if license is not obtained, or they do not provide care for at least six months, the grantee is responsible for repaying the loan.
Daycare for kids has been cited by numerous sources as a necessity in our area, in order to provide the work force needed for new industry.
