Despite efforts by Governor Kelly, encouraging Congress to extend the Free Lunch Program for schools across the United States, no action has been taken yet. Parents will face a school year having to pay for lunches once again. USD 290 Superintendent Dr. Ryan Cobbs, says if parents need free lunches, they will need to apply for it:

Kelly says many districts are worried that when the child Nutrition Waivers expire, they fear significant disruptions in the supply chain, could negatively effect students. Cobbs sent a letter to patrons in June, outlining the cost of each meal. Parents that meet certain income levels are still eligible for free or reduced meals and need to apply at enrollment. Online enrollment is going on now.
