The new mural in Downtown Osawatomie is nearing completion, It looks fantastic and depicts items that define Osawatomie and the State of Kansas. Osawatomie City Manager, Mike Scanlon, says if you like this one, there’s more to come:
The Rural Mural Grant Fund is through the State and it provides money for mural projects in rural Kansas cities to use art to bolster a cities historical significance and others.
The mural in Osawatomie features an image of the State of Kansas, a picture of John Brown on the left, the Creamery March-Arch bridge, with “Welcome to Osawatomie” across the upper left, with a sunrise in the background. It also features a smaller depictions of wheat, honeybee, a sunflower and railroad tracks.
