This weekend looks to be a good one. A few chances of rain, but some sunshine thrown in. If you are heading to the lake, you’ll be happy to know that the blue-green-algae alert for Pomona Lake has been lifted and it is now safe to enter wat water; however, other lakes in the area are still being affected by the potentially dangerous algae blooms. There is a warning issued for Louisburg Lake, In Miami County. Watch statues for Carbondale Lake and Melvern Outlet Pond in Osage County, as well as Crystal Lake in Anderson County.

It’s very important to avoid water that is bright green or has scum, a pain-like surface, or floating blue-green clumps. Pets or livestock that swim in, drink the water, or eat dried algae may become seriously ill or die. Officials are asking that if you are in contact with the water, wash off as soon as possible and keep an eye on pets, keeping them away from the water.
