Anderson County voters had very few uncontested races in the Primary Election held yesterday. Though State wide, the Value Them Both Amendment failed, 59% of voters in Anderson County voted ‘yes’ on the amendment question. For the Democratic U. S. Senate Seat, Mark Holland won the vote with 38%. However, Anderson County voters preferred Paul Buskirk 29% to 27% over Holland. In the Democratic Governor’s Primary, Anderson County voters agreed with voters State wide in selecting incumbent Governor Laura Kelly over challenger Richard Karnowski. Voters in the County gave Kelly nearly 85% of the votes.
In the Republican Governor race, Derek Schmidt soundly defeated Kincaid resident, Arlyn Briggs, 1,125 votes to 401 in Anderson County and won in a landslide state wide as well. Also on the Republican side, Scott Schwab edged out Mike Brown for the Secretary of State nod. Anderson County voters overwhelmingly chose Kris Kobach for Republican Attorney General candidate and 82% chose Caryn Tyson over Steven Johnson for State Treasurer. However, State wide, that race is even and will be decided by the Canvass next week.
County Clerk, Julie Wettstien, says all results are unofficial until the Official Canvass of the votes is held next week.
