Results are in from yesterday’s Primary Election and the “Value Them Both” Amendment was soundly defeated as 59% voted not to adopt the Amendment. The Republican 5th District race, it was Rebecca Schmoe over Louis Reed 2,909 votes to 1,829. In the Republican Kansas House 5th District Race, challenger Carrie Barth overwhelming defeated incumbent, Mark Samsel 2,769 votes to 1,599.

Results from State races in Kansas were not surprising. On the Democratic side of the Governor’s race, incumbent Laura Kelly took 94% of the vote, over Richard Karnowski. For the Republicans, Derek Schmidt soundly defeated challenger Arlyn Briggs, 81% to 19%. In a very close race for the Republican Attorney General, nomination, Kris Kobach defeated Kelly Warren, 42% to 38%, while Tony Mattivi had 20% of the vote.

The Republican State Treasure’s race is too close to call, as Caryl Tyson and Steven Warren both finished with 50% of the votes. The State-wide Canvass will determine the outcome in a few days.

In National Offices, the Republican Senate race went to incumbent Jerry Moran with 81% of the vote, over challenger Joan Far with 19%. In the 3rd District House of Representative vote, it was Amanda Adkins winning with 77% of the vote over John McCaughren.
