The final results are in from most races in the Primary Election last week. When it came to Anderson County voters deciding which way abortion policy in the State would go, they voted the opposite of the rest of the State. Forty four percent of voters turned out and carried the measure 60% to 40%, the exact opposite as the state wide result.
Local Democrats picked incumbent Governor Laura Kelly over challenger Richard Karnowski. County Democrats picked Paul Buskirk as the nominee from among the six-candidate field to oppose Republican incumbent Jerry Moran. Buskirk placed second in the statewide Democrat runoff to Mark Holland.
In the Republican Primary for 3td District U. S. Congress, locals picked Amanda Adkins over John McCaughren. County Republicans picked Attorney General Derek Schmidt, 74-26% over challenger Arlyn Briggs of Kincaid. In the state’s most contested race, Anderson County Republicans picked 12th District State Senator, Caryn Tyson, over challenger Steven Johnson 83-17%, but State GOP voters gave Johnson a 375 vote margin over Tyson
