The Franklin County Sheriff’s office and the Ottawa Police Department will be joining the “You Drink, You Drive, You Lose” campaign in a statewide attempt to remove impaired drivers from the roadway. The Campaign runs from Saturday, August 20th to Labor Day, September 5th. During that time, local law enforcement will be extra vigilant on the roadways across Franklin County. Law enforcement will be on the lookout for both alcohol and drug-related impairments. One person is killed in a drunk driving crash every 52 minutes in the United States. Just one drink before driving can you and others in danger.
The campaign is intended to remind drivers to take a moment to consider how it would be to begin every day with the memory of your decision if it resulted in injury or death. If you are driving impaired, you are not only more likely to crash, but that crash is more likely to cause serious injury or death to you or someone else. Think about your family, friends, coworkers and neighbors. As always, wear your seat belt. It is your best defense against impaired drivers. Buckle up, every trip, every time and arrive safely to your destination.
