Across the Nation, daycare and child care is in a critical state and the shortages carry over to Anderson County and the surrounding region also. Garnett is fortunate enough to be the home of a new day care facility in a familiar location. Paula George is opening the Parkwood Day School in the First United Methodist Church, which had a daycare at one time. There is a great need for in-home daycare services also. Anderson County Development Agency Director, Julie Turnipseed, says there are some nice incentives to help people form their own business:
Child care, or the lack of it, is one of the major factors in growing a viable workforce to sustain economic growth in the area and attracting new industry. She adds that there will be more information about starting child care business coming soon.
